Shh ("we," "us," "our") is a dating app operated by Polsia. You can reach us at shh@polsia.app.
2. What We Collect
We collect information you give us directly, and limited data generated by your use of the app.
Account & Profile Information
- Email address (required to create an account)
- First name and age
- Gender identity and preferences for matching
- Profile photos you upload
- Conversation style preferences and personality signals you provide during onboarding
- Invite code used to join (and codes you generate for others)
Location
- Your general city or neighborhood — used to suggest real-world venues for dates
- We do not track your precise GPS location in real time
Usage & Interaction Data
- Match interactions (accepts, passes, conversation threads)
- In-app messages between matched users
- Feature usage patterns to improve recommendations
Payment Information
- Subscription status and billing period
- We do not store card numbers, CVVs, or full payment details — all payment processing is handled by Stripe
Device & Technical Data
- Browser/device type, IP address, and operating system
- Push notification token (if you grant permission)
- Crash reports and error logs
3. How We Use Your Data
We use your data to operate the app and nothing else that would surprise you.
- AI Matching — Your personality signals, preferences, and conversation style inform our matching algorithm. This data is used to generate better matches for you. It is not sold, shared with advertisers, or used for any purpose outside of matching.
- Venue Suggestions — Your location is used to recommend nearby date venues that fit the speakeasy aesthetic. We do not share your location with venues.
- Waitlist & Invite System — Your waitlist position, invite codes, and referral activity are tracked to manage curated access to Shh.
- Communications — We send transactional emails (match notifications, account updates) and push notifications if you've consented. No marketing spam.
- Payments — Stripe processes payments on our behalf. We receive confirmation of your subscription status but not raw card data.
- Safety & Trust — We may use data to investigate reported abuse, enforce our Terms of Service, and protect other users.
- Product Improvement — Aggregate, anonymized usage patterns help us improve features and fix bugs.
4. AI Matching — How It Works
Shh uses AI to curate who you meet. The algorithm considers your stated preferences, personality signals, and conversational compatibility signals you provide during onboarding and through app use.
Your personal data is never sold to third parties. It is never used to target ads. The AI matching system runs on our own infrastructure. We do not share your profile data with any AI provider for training purposes.
5. Sharing Your Information
We don't sell your data. Full stop. We share limited data only in these situations:
- With your matches — Your profile (name, photos, selected details) is shown to users we've matched you with. Messages you send are visible to your match.
- Service providers — Stripe (payment processing), our hosting infrastructure (Render, Neon), and email delivery services. These providers process data only as needed to provide their services.
- Legal requirements — If required by law, valid legal process, or to protect the safety of users.
- Business transfers — If Shh is acquired or merges with another company, your data may transfer as part of that transaction. We'll notify you before any such transfer.
6. Push Notifications
We request permission before sending push notifications. You can revoke this permission at any time through your device settings. Notifications are used for match alerts and important account updates only — not promotional campaigns.
7. Data Retention
We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account:
- Your profile, photos, and match history are deleted within 30 days
- Messages are deleted from our servers within 30 days
- Payment records are retained as required by law (typically 7 years)
- Anonymized, aggregated usage data may be retained indefinitely
8. Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access — Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
- Correction — Update inaccurate or incomplete information
- Deletion — Request that we delete your account and associated data
- Portability — Receive your data in a machine-readable format
- Objection — Object to certain types of processing
- Withdraw consent — Where processing is based on consent, you can withdraw it at any time

9. Security
We use industry-standard measures to protect your data: encrypted connections (TLS/HTTPS), encrypted storage for sensitive credentials, and access controls that limit who can see your data. No system is perfectly secure — if you believe your account has been compromised, contact us immediately.
10. Children
Shh is for adults 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect data from minors. If you believe a minor has created an account, contact us at shh@polsia.app and we will delete the account.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy as the app evolves. Material changes will be notified by email or in-app notice at least 14 days before they take effect. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the current version.
